Katrina Kaif goes the polka way!

Fashion trends in our country are made and marred by movie stars. Such is the craze for Bollywood stars that what they wear becomes an unsaid norm for the nation, and it doesn’t take much time for fans like us to praise and follow them. One such style that’s made a comeback, thanks to Katrina Kaif’s public appearance, is the polka dot. Kaif was recently seen sporting a polka dot red flamenco dress, at the music launch of 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' and needless to say, the fashion police was quick enough to label it as the 'IN' thing for the coming season.
    
What’s more is the fact that the trend is popular internationally too. Marc Jacobs displayed it in abundance in his Resort 2011 collection.

•    Polka dot, in itself is a very strong print. And as a thumb rule, you should never club two very strong prints together. Thus, it’s best to team it with a solid colour.

•    The print works well with formal as well as casual look. Stick to the basics blacks, whites and navy blues for office wear. However, dare to experiment, if you can, with loud shades to create a playful retro look.

•    Polka dots emphasise volume, and hence the pattern works well on slim structures. But, if you have a broad frame, you can either have the smallest size on yourself, or even better, wear it as an accessory. Polka dots look stunning on scarves, stilettos and bags.
