It seems that Karan Johar believes that Kareena Kapoor is the best fit for the film but Ekta Kapoor feels that Katrina Kaif is more suited for the role. Karan probably feels that way because he took Kareena Kapoor for his upcoming flick Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu also starring Imran Khan.
The leading lady in this Kapoor-Johar flick is meant to be a strong sexy character and those at Karan Johar's Dharma Productions are hell bent on taking on Kareena. Here's what they had to say, "Kareena is the in-house heroine for us. Period! Everyone at Dharma is pretty much in sync with that, and that was the case with "Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu" as well. When it comes to her, the role has to be really interesting, meaty and challenging."
So who will win this fight? Do you think it will be Katrina or Kareena? Tell us here!
Katrina Kaif has scored the first big showbiz coup of 2012 – she's bagged the coveted role opposite legendary actor Rajinikanth in Kochadaiyaan, being directed by his daughter, Soundarya Ashwin.
Soundarya has confirmed the news saying, “Yes, we are indeed in talks with Katrina and we will let you know soon."
Kochadaiyaan, an epic love story of a king who is a devotee of Lord Shiva, will be shot in 3D.
Katrina Kaif will soon join ranks with Aishwarya and Deepika by romancing Kollywood superstar Rajinikanth on screen. The actor is said to have said yes for Kochadaiyaan.
"It's true. We were very keen on Katrina. Two superstars together from the South and the North would create magic," a very important member of the film's production team revealed.
"We've been negotiating with her for some time. She is shooting for Yash Chopra, and has assured us of her dates in the next few months," the source was quoted by the tabloid as saying.
"Yes, we are indeed in talks with Katrina and we will let you know soon," confirmed Soundarya to the daily.
The film will go on the floors today.
"Feel extremely happy when I start work with yashji...from the inside. Easy...smiles...happiness...purity of storytelling," SRK posted on Twitter on Friday.
Yesterday, Uday Chopra, Yash Chopra's son who often assists on his movies, confirmed the launch of the film. "Launching my dad's film today with a little pooja at YRF... shoot starts tomorrow with @ iamsrk and Katrina Kaif.. Dad directing after Veer- Zaara (sic)," Uday tweeted.
Yash Chopra returns to direction after seven years - after the cross-border love story Veer Zaara in 2004, with Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta. No title has been decided as yet for the new film.
The film also stars Anushka Sharma, a Yash Raj favourite who made her debut with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in 2008 opposite SRK.
The music of the new film will be composed by A R Rahman and Gulzar will pen the lyrics.
SRK's earlier films with Yash Raj include blockbusters like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil to Pagal Hai and Mohabattein. It remains to be seen what Katrina can add to the SRK-Yash Raj hit formula.
The film is scheduled to release on Diwali 2012.
