One for the road For ZNMD

With the Akhtars on the couch sipping on their steaming cups of coffee and indulging in sibling revelries, Karan Johar had brewed enough curiosity about Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara on Koffee with Karan’s last season. It was the perfect leather padded cushioned platform for the brother-sister, Farhan and Zoya, to talk about their film, how father Javed Akhtar stepped in and tweaked it from Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara to Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. And, how Zoya still tells Farhan what to do. What also came to fore was that Farhan makes for a great director and actor while she in turn has been into movies for ages. But this was a film she had to make. All of this brings us to a rather troubling point of contention — what made two female writers — Zoya and Reema Katgi, pen an out and out guy flick? That too with the proverbial road trip, the one that is more of a last song of bachelorhood? “For that you’ll have to get in touch with Zoya and Reema,” shoots Farhan Akhtar, who was in the city on Saturday for the film’s promotion .
Farhan swooped in along with Katrina Kaif, Abhay Deol, Kalki Koechlin and film’s producer, Ritesh Sidwani. As they made their way through a bursting at seams PVR Centra Mall, the hoots, whistles, screams went all out for Kaif, who looked nice in a simple peach frilly top with blue jeans. With Hrithik Roshan absent from the picture, it was Deol, sporting his gelled back John Travolta look from Grease, who was the show stealer and stopper. Kaif on the other hand, reveled in the “generosity and love of her audience for catapulting her to the sexiest star status”.
